Press 7.....Then laugh

We got a new house phone. I never answer it cause it is never for me. When it rings I just stay in the bed and wait for the message. The new phone is funny! Here is what the message says when the answering machine picks up:
"This is an answering machine, please leave a message."

Jana decide we need to change the message. We do. I love to have nontraditional messages and I think this one would have to be one of my best. If you were to call our house and the machine pick up this is what you would hear:
"If your calling for Jana press 1, Scotty press 2, Shelby press 3, Amber press 4, Addiysn press 5, Just kidding you don't have to press anything just wait for the beep."
What makes this so funny, thinking of people pressing buttons and becoming frustrated.

When I got home last night I checked the machine and this is what I heard:
"Hi Jana this is Brad with (insert whatever finance bill collector he was) I'm looking for Laura. When you talk to her could you ask her to press 7 and call 903(insert whatever that number was)."

It's nice to know that he can find humor in his job. I went to bed laughing it was nice to fall asleep laughing and not crying for a change.

A little update

I have been so lost and busy that I have not posted much lately. I'm updating like crazy right now. I need to be organizing my car and room cause I can not even begin to tell you what a mess they are. I have bills that need to be paid, school work to be done, clothes to be washed, bags to be unpacked, but all I want to do is crawl in my bed and listen to songs that remind me of Daddy and do nothing. I'm in the bed, I'm listening to the music but I'm blogging.

I got a new calling at church I get to help with the youth. The girls 12-18 have a program called young women and I'm the personal progress leader. Which means I get to spend Sunday and Wednesday with the girls helping them with their personal progress which is a program that they complete to get a fabulous necklace by completing projects that will teach them different values while bringing them closer to the lord. (In a nutshell I think I explained it pretty well). I'm super super excited about it. I have wanted to work in the young women FOREVER!

I am still the Single Representative. Not much going on with that but I do have the Singles over on Monday night for Family Home Evening. Not many in the group to begin with and not many come but that's OK.

Well I have talked myself into doing all the above mentioned on the to do list. I will post more updates later. I'm pretty dull these days.

A new semester, The last one.

I started a new semester at school. I don't have a funny story this time. Mom always likes to hear the first day story cause something usually goes wrong, I get stuck in desk, lost or spill something on me. I have nothing funny cause I missed the whole first week of school. School started on Tuesday, Daddy died on Wednesday. I have 3 classes online and one on campus. The class on campus is on Thursday, I have not gone yet.

I logged onto the online classes and printed out my syllabus today. Its going to be a busy semester. I know I say that every semester, but this one is going to be. OK so I say that every semester, but this one is different.

There is a friend from church that is in one of my online classes who I will study with. Hopefully he will help to keep me from procrastinating.

This is my last semester, for that I'm happy! I will probably continue and be a professional student, but I will have one more degree under my belt.

Daddy

The only man I have ever loved passed away on January 21, 2009. The only man that has ever loved me is gone. My life is forever changed. I cherish every moment I had with him and regret everyone I didn't.

My daddy laughed at my first car wreck. He made me call family and friends and tell them all about it. I didn't go home and cried cause I thought he would take my keys away, but he just laughed, after he made sure I was ok.

Daddy danced to the Rob Thomas/Santana song, Smooth and thought he was the sexiest man alive.

Daddy loved life, Elvis, and his kids.

Daddy lived in Dallas and had a pig in his backyard.

Daddy went bald at a very young age. He wore a toupee, I loved him bald the best.

Daddy drove a ugly white van that looked like a suppository, and had no seats in the back and the engine was under the front seats.

Daddy even loved my blonde hair, not many did.

Daddy was 54 when he died and he was born in 1954.

Daddy wore shorts that were to short for a man to wear, and only he could pull it off.

Daddy could fix things.

Daddy had a weak stomach, just like me.

Daddy had hemorrhoids thus earning him the nickname "HIMMY" from his friends.

When daddy gagged it sounded like he was saying "BUICK" which is really funny cause he sold cars.

Daddy taught me how to play black jack and we use to bet with pennies that he saved up in a Folgers jar when we lived in Wills Point.

Daddy loved to wear Hawaiian shirts.

Daddy loved to play jokes.

Daddy always made me smile.

A Christmas Story

I don't have pictures from Christmas at my Mothers because Brie got a camera so she took all the pictures along with Grandma and I have not gotten mine yet.

I worked 7-4 on Christmas Day, Then went to moms house and opened gifts with Mom, Maddie and Stetson. Then Selena and her crew came over and we opened gifts then ate a yummy meal cooked by Mommy. Then Alex and David left to go home and play X-box and the rest of us played games. Then I took Selena and Brie home. Brie showered while Sis and I chatted then Alex and Brie went back to Grandmas with me for a Slumber party. When we got back Grandma suggested we all put on our NEW Pj's and go take pictures with the yard art on the square. When we got back we played a taste test game with soda......I won....the prize was a pack of Big Red gum. We played more games and then went to bed. I took the kids home in the morning and then it was back to work.

Then Sunday was Christmas with my dad's side of the family at my Grandmothers house. My cousin Erica was the host this year and picked the theme of a Hoedown Christmas. We had brisket and it was YUMMY. The bottom of the invitations said "Don't forget to dress the part." I apparently was the only one who saw it or the only one who was silly enough to "Dress the part." I borrowed some boots and attempted to look like what lives in this Dairy farm town! I think I did well the only thing missing was a hat! Oh, and the REST of the family being dressed up. Some of the kids had cowboy hats but nobody else looked like a fool.
Here I am before we left town.

Here is me with my new man.

Is this not the prettiest baby girl ever.

I need one for myself.

Rance, Jayden, Tennete, and Peyton.

The Whole Gang

Dad's Family

Dad and his girls all looking strange
Selena's Family (Alex was sick when the kids went to their Dad's. He was going after the party.)
These Three are the same age.
Grandma, Bill and the siblings. Notice my father walking away he was in such a hurry to leave.

The rest of the trip

Ashley and I went to Myrtle Beach. We got a nice hotel room on the 9th floor, with water front view with a small kitchen. The Hotel had an indoor pool and hot tub. The room was only $45 because it is off season normally the guy said it is 100+. We put our stuff in the room then started walking to the strand I got a little freaked out by weird men on the street and we went back and got the car and drove to the strand. All the stores were "closed for the season."

Being Silly Girls

There was a Ripley's believe it or not. We decided to do that and they ended up having 5 different museums to go in. One was not open and the other one was several miles away. It was $33 for the three. When Ashley showed her military ID the lady said we could do all 5 for $6.45. WOW!

Our "Big Wins."

The first one was a maze which we ended up at the beginning twice. On the second time we said this sucks were quiting. The next was a moving picture show. Basically our seats moved and stuff. I had been nausea and throwing up all day so it didn't sit well with me. Then we went to the regular museum and were a little less than impressed and kept saying..."I'm so glad we only paid $6.45."

We ate dinner made a run to Target and went back to our room. We hit the hot tub and were ready for be by 9:30. We are WILD I tell you! In the middle of the night I hear all this racket and see that Ashley has pulled her mattress onto the floor to be next to the AC vent.
The next day we walked the strand hopping to find a few more places open there were some arcades and shops that we went to. We won lots of tickets and some sweet prizes. Then we hit the beach attempted to wash the sand off our feet but the shower thing was "turned off for the season." We walked down an Alley that smelled awful and I wanted to throw up. Then we drove to the one other Ripley's Aquarium that we had not gone to, and it turned out to be the best. I think it was all the picture ops we found.
On our way home we almost wrecked. I used me special life saving insane driving skills and we missed hitting the van by an inch. Ashley said we were so close she could see that ladies mustache. We stopped at the beauty supply store and got some good hair product ate lunch/dinner at Macaroni Grill, Ashley's fave. Then went home and lounged around the rest of the day.
I gave the family the game Apples to Apples for Christmas and we played that a bunch. Ashley and I played cards she also got me hooked on this show called Gary Unmarried and thanks to DVR I was able to watch every episode along with the New Adventures of Old Christine. Zach had a wrestle match on Saturday and Ashley and Piddled around and didn't make it there. Andrew came down with fever. Saturday night we had Taco soup for dinner YUM! We watched 3 Mark Walberg movies that were so good!
Sunday night Zach made steaks and potatoes and I tell you what that kid is going to be a chef! His steaks are the BEST!!!
Monroe and Ashley took me to the airport at 2:30 since it was a 2 hour drive and then I needed time to check in and such. It was crazy the amount of people at the airport at 5am. I waited in line and waited in line. Checked my bag. Then waited and waited in line. It was my turn to empty my pockets and take off my shoes when all of a sudden pilots and flight attendants cut in front of me and I waited and waited again. Finally I got to my gate and sat down to WAIT and then the guy kept opening the door and I was so cold. I got on my the plane and then we took off.
When we got to Atlanta we were already late and my 50 min layover was now only 30min. Then the gate was taken so they had to send us all the way across the airport and the Jet way was broken. Now I'm down to twenty minutes to get off my plane and ACROSS the airport to my next flight before it leaves. We have to get off the plane in the back and walk across the runway in twenty degree weather to the jet way and up the rickety stairs then into the airport, down the hall to the concourse, ride the concourse to the B gates then walk from gate B1 all the way to gate B28. I'm huffing and puffing when I get to the desk to see the door is closed. Luckily I got on and was told to put my carry on all the way in the back and find an empty seat. I got a window this time and it was an exit so there was more leg room than normal. SCORE!
When I got to Dallas my suitcase did not make it. I had to give my address and it was shipped to my moms house 3 days later.
My trip was great and I did not want to come home. I'm ready to go again. Here are pictures from the time with Drew.
